And thanks everyone for the lovely comments!

* For harmonic interest you can throw in some Dsus4, Dsus2 and Dadd9 hammer ons and pull offs. You can also do the same riff off of the A chord. Chords can be found by googling Dsus4.

* Here's the way I play the song. I put a capo on the 2nd fret of the guitar and play it as if it was in the key of "D". It is much easier to change the chords quickly and add phrases in this position. The chords go in the following cycle: A, D, G, D, and A. Same sequence over and over for the whole song. Sorta like a mantra.

*
Wow that was amazing. Anyone know of any other songs from Georges India days worth checking out?

* One of the prolific singer! Forget about the religion. The upshot is PEACE! So Hands Held High for Peace.. Gimme a thumbs up i were rite!

* Although I'm by no means a Krishna devotee, I'm drawn to this song.

Love you forever, George.

* kindness and generousity belong to no culture beyond themselves.
hare krishna!

* Beautiful,you made me proud Brother.
And beautiful paintings are those.

* So beautiful!
I love this song.
I'm so interested in Krishna.
Wonderful work! Amazing pictures!

Peace&Love

* oooooooooooooo our sweeto george its´wonderful see this video and listen the beautiful song of george

* All the manifestations of God have taught the same basic message, if we would only realize it. Does it really matter if Their name is Krishna, Moses, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ, Muhammad , the Bab or Baha'u'llah? They are "perfect" mirrors reflecting the perfect light of God. Focus on what you have in common, because the alternative is disunity, sadness and hate. This song is a favorite of mine. Love for God is universal.

* How can I get a copy of the music? How did you, muji get this?

* Krishna is an incarnation of Vishnu, the preserver. Hindu deities are representations of spiritual and philosophical concepts.

* bala shiva =D
sweet chanting song

* Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Hare Rama Hare Krishna.....

Krishna and Jesus are same .....God Incarnation.......Those people are fools who fight in their names making divisions in society......

Krishna and Jesus are same....The Holy Spirit that dwells among us....We call it Krishna Consciousness......Hare Krishna Hare Jesus....

* I don't see why this comment is marked as spam,Jesus and Krishna probably are the same.

* Krishna and Jesus aren't the same... Jesus was a messager for God. Krishna was actually an incarnation...

* i think everyone has the right to belive in god...god should give us hope...shelter..ect..if his name is jesus..krishna..allah or i donno...doesent matter tht much...to fight cauze of god is silly...hare krishna

* Inspiring. May George's love spread to all.
Love

* I can never get enough of this song !!!
Talk about a wonderful Kirtan:D
I often wonder if George knew the long range effect he was to have on people for Lord Sri Krsna. All Glories !!

* enjoyed much; brings George alive; Krishna and George in Nirvana heaven; beautiful paintings; blessings,

Vera

* ok i need some. there's this song, i think that paul simon sings and i think it's with asha bhosle. i really need to know the name of the song; the only words i can remember is when he says some the words 'hare raam' and 'hare krishna' and then 'hare hare hare'.
Please i've been desperately trying to look for this song.
thanks!

* you do not have to be Indian, this a Universal sound, Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare, sing along! Y purifica tu corazon!

* Amen, brother (or sister!) This superior or inferior crap is just the ego talking. God manifests in human form across the ages in various cultures and traditions. The external is irrelevant, it is their inner being, their radiance of God that is what we adore.

* This was actually an unreleased song from the AMTP sessions, in about 1970/71... but don't quote me on the year.
I'd love to have a "concrete" copy of the song, George is amazing =)

* Thank you George Harrison for singing this song with soul and love.
George and John were my favorite Beatles =)

* Extremely stupid question!
Religiousness isn't meant to separate, but move towards togetherness, love, and understanding, regardless whether you believe in Jesus, Krishna, Allah, Tao, Pantheism or something else.
Religion means: broaden your mind!

* hey im indian george u frikin rock!

* Thank you, George Harrison. Thank you, the Krishna Consciousness people who chanted daily on Boston Common in the early 1970s. Between you, I found out about Hinduism at a young age and was impressed for life.

* george harrison rocks! and he pronounced it fairly well

* I love hare Krishna =)

* hare krishna! hari, hari! love, gopala krishna!

* Well as a personal God Krishna is male, but being God Krishna is neither, He is all things.

* neti neti, not this not this, that's what the Upanishad and Vedas say about God...just as the nothingness of space occupies the entire universe, so does God

* well, since Krishna is an avatar of Vishnu, are there not female incarnations of Vishnu? I am studying Hindu independently and I am unsure of the placement of avatars to the respective Gods of the Trinity.

* So nice listen this song... makes me love all!!!

Peace folks!! Let's love all things and enjoy!!!

* For my daughter Kimberly who is ill and loves George and Krishna I love you sweetheart Love Mom xo xo xo

* Hare Krsna!!!

The only way to reach everlasting PEACE, just simply say Hari Krsna

* ah makes me happy!

* does anyone know the chord progression to this. i want to play it.

reply : To thismanonfire - euripides77 has posted the chords in the comments approximately 17 pages back from here

* Belated Happy b'day george.. wherever u are now.. U are one whom can be considered how a person shud live .. RIP..

* So Beautiful George We Miss You! But We'll Never Forget You! I Love You George!

* I heard it on a bootleg.
I'm sure he'd appreciate this video.

* Happy Birthday George! Hare Krishna....
Thank You George for introducing me to Krishna.
Thank You Mugui for the lyric.. I now chant Krishna's name all time.

* In honor of George's birthday (Feb 25) send this video to everyone you know!
Hare Krishna, George. We miss you and Love you!

* Anyone know how to get this as an mp3?

* brianfrac117, it's sanskrit. George is singing to different forms of God, mostly Krishna (the Supreme Personality of Godhead).

* Yes.
And what a peaceful reply you gave to Sc4r7.
Calling someone a fool is such a loving and compassionate thing to do.

* ...but why? It's a chant of Love, my friend.

* i could sing this all day to our ever grace full lord!!!Om namah shiva!

* free will when applied to perspective is one of the most powerful tools we are blessed with in this spiritual journey.
Hare Krishna!

* thanks for posting this beautiful music from a beautiful soul.
peace to you mugui, love to us all.

* I had to come back and listen to this again...just wonderful!

* Krsna means all-attractive. Because He attracts everyone.

* sattvānurūpā sarvasya
śraddhā bhavati bhārata
śraddhā-mayo 'yaḿ puruṣo
yo yac-chraddhaḥ sa eva saḥ

O son of Bharata, according to one's existence under the various modes of nature, one evolves a particular kind of faith. The living being is said to be of a particular faith according to the modes he has acquired.

This is the actual verse from Gita chapter 17.verse 3

* śrī-bhagavān uvāca
bahūni me vyatītāni
janmāni tava cārjuna
tāny ahaḿ veda sarvāṇi
na tvaḿ vettha parantapa

The Personality of Godhead said: Many, many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you cannot, O subduer of the enemy!

This is the actual verse from gita 4.verse 5

* "tad viddhi praṇipātena
paripraśnena sevayā
upadekṣyanti te jñānaḿ
jñāninas tattva-darśinaḥ

"Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized souls can impart knowledge unto you because they have seen the truth"

Gita 4.34 see for detailed explanation by Shirdi Sai Baba

* Yeah we see things differently. we have different perspectives but different perspectives is due our different consciousness, if we purify our consciousness we will think alike. Gook luck and Hare Krsna.

* George's voice is so tender here. It's lovely. The images are beautiful. :49 is so sweet.

Interesting. I've always had a snobbish indifference to the non Muslim religions of India, but this short video seems to tell a story that piques my interest. Thank you.

* wounderfull bhajans thank you for posting

* hmm, that is something interesting that George Harrison quoted, its interesting, he had to speak to help us understand that statement.

By the way George Harrison was very much into Krsna Bhakti aspect of the eastern culture especially Iskcon or better known Hare Krsnas.

* "He who speaks does not know and he who knows does not speak." - George Harrison

* George was the only one deeply moved by eastern philosphy. The other Beatles left India one by one after becoming disolusioned with the Maharishi; Lennon even wrote a song about him which for legal reasons had its title changed to Sexy Sadie.

None of the Bealtes converted from Christianity because they weren't Christian in the first place. Lennon obviously felt extremely let down by God & turn his talents towards political activism.

* 'Gita' is just a part of Mahabharata...Read the Mahabharata first to know about the birth of Krishna...Mahabharta itself says Krishna is a avatar of Vishnu...Watever u do bro...u cant change mythology...i grew up reading Mahabahrata. I m a Bhardwaj Gotra brahaman

* The gita is not just a part of mahabharat my friend. The sole purpose of the mahabharat was so that the gita could be expounded as mentioned by srila vyasdev. Here is what is stated in the Srimad Bhagavatam 3.5.12

* that was from srimad bhagavatam 3.5.12
where is your evidence? By the way also the Gita is eternel, if you actually understood anything about the vedas then you would know that the gita was spoken many millions of years ago before to vivasvan and thats how it was handed down. Im sorry, its just not part of the mahabharat, please provide me your proof.

* sanskrit is a language...btw who told u that u need a 'Acharya' for learning that...and by the way wat ur 'sampradya' (community) has to do with ur learning of sanskrit....i think ur taking refuse to some complex words(which i know) and talking of the point just to prove me wrong.....

* I know sanskrit is a language my friend. The padma purana states you need an acarya, the srimad bhagavatam states you need an acarya, the tatteriya upanishad states that you need an acarya. I am from the Brahma Madhva Gaudiya Sampradaya as mentioned. Sampradaya is not a community my friend but a disciplic succession coming from Godhimself. This is mentioned in the 4th chapter of the gita. I have already prove you wrong everytime. You still havent gotten any proof of what you are saying.

* agreed 'Shyam' means 'Dark' but no where it means 'darkish beautiful'....the words for 'darkish beautiful' are "Shyam-sundaram"....atleast now u agree with me that Krishna's color is dark....infact his parents named him Krishna because he was dark..its still a practice in rural India where dark born children are namde 'kaala' (black)

* Hinduism has concept of many forms of God so that everyone can can worship god in the way they like.... so wen u say Krishna is the supreme is derogatory to those people who worship God in other forms.... but the main fact that remains is that they all are same...so if some1 differentiats Krishna from Vishnu or Shiva, it means he/she believes in many Gods or doesnt believe in oneness of these forms. And the moment someone does that, they loose the essence of being a Krishna follower....

* First and foremost the word hindu or the current form of hinduism that you are mentioning is not mentioned in the vedas. 2.The concept of God has to be approved by Guru, Sadhu and Sastra.3. God has to be worshiped through authorized forms. Krsna is supreme according to the conclusion of the vedas, not me. Are you saying the vedas are wrong?

* veṇuḿ kvaṇantam aravinda-dalāyatākṣam-
barhāvataḿsam asitāmbuda-sundarāńgam
kandarpa-koṭi-kamanīya-viśeṣa-śobhaḿ
govindam ādi-puruṣaḿ tam ahaḿ bhajāmi

I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, who is adept in playing on His flute, with blooming eyes like lotus petals with head decked with peacock's feather, with the figure of beauty tinged with the hue of blue clouds, and His unique loveliness charming millions of Cupids.

* Bhagavad-gita 10.12-13
arjuna uvaca
param brahma param dhama
pavitram paramam bhavan
purusam sasvatam divyam
adi-devam ajam vibhum

ahus tvam rsayah sarve
devarsir naradas tatha
asito devalo vyasah
svayam caiva bravisi me

Arjuna said: You are the Supreme Brahman, the ultimate, the supreme abode and purifier, the Absolute Truth and the eternal divine person. You are the primal God, transcendental and original, and You are the unborn and all-pervading beauty.

* Bhagavad-gita 9.10 The Most Confidential Knowledge

mayadhyaksena prakrtih
suyate sa-caracaram
hetunanena kaunteya
jagad viparivartate

This material nature is working under [KRISHNA'S] My direction, O son of Kunti, and it is producing all moving and unmoving beings. By its rule this manifestation is created and annihilated again and again.

* Bhagavad-gita 14.4 The Three Modes Of Material Nature

sarva-yonisu kaunteya
murtayah sambhavanti yah
tasam brahma mahad yonir
aham bija-pradah pita

It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I [KRISHNA] am the seed-giving father.

See, here Krsna states that he(krishna) is the source of everything.

* Bhagavad-gita 14.3 The Three Modes Of Material Nature

mama yonir mahad brahma
tasmin garbham dadhamy aham
sambhavah sarva-bhutanam
tato bhavati bharata

The total material substance, called Brahman, is the source of birth, and it is that Brahman that I [KRISHNA] impregnate, making possible the births of all living beings, O son of Bharata.

* Bhagavad-gita 10.41 The Opulence of the Absolute

yad yad vibhutimat sattvam
srimad urjitam eva va
tat tad evavagaccha tvam
mama tejo-'msa-sambhavam

Know that all beautiful, glorious, and mighty creations spring from but a spark of My [KRISHNA'S] splendor.

* Bhagavad-gita 14.4 The Three Modes Of Material Nature

sarva-yonisu kaunteya
murtayah sambhavanti yah
tasam brahma mahad yonir
aham bija-pradah pita

It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made possible by birth in this material nature, and that I [KRISHNA] am the seed-giving father.

* Bhagavad-gita 10.41 The Opulence of the Absolute

yad yad vibhutimat sattvam
srimad urjitam eva va
tat tad evavagaccha tvam
mama tejo-'msa-sambhavam

Know that all beautiful, glorious, and mighty creations spring from but a spark of My [KRISHNA'S] splendor.

* yad yad vibhutimat sattvam
srimad urjitam eva va
tat tad evavagaccha tvam
mama tejo-'msa-sambhavam

Know that all beautiful, glorious, and mighty creations spring from but a spark of My [KRISHNA'S] splendor. ..

..
.
it no where says that Vishnu is a avatar of Krishna...rather it proves a point that God is one....wen Krishna says theses words it mean that he is "God" meaning all forms of spiritual (Brahma,vishnu,mahesh) are same...

* Bhagavad-gita 7.7 Knowledge of the Absolute

mattah parataram nanyat
kincid asti dhananjaya
mayi sarvam idam protam
sutre mani-gana iva

O conqueror of wealth [Arjuna], there is no Truth superior to Me {KRISHNA]. Everything rests upon Me [KRISHNA], as pearls are strung on a thread.

* we dont worship idols. God is non different then his form. You say Allah u AKbhar(God is great) if god is great he can appear in any form cant he? Lets not try to limit god by our limited understanding of him. He is non different then his form. We dont worship idols but rather form of God that he is. Even in the Quran it states that God has a form.

* The only reason the fly can come and pinch Gods food is if God allows it. When we offer food to God(bhoga)God purifies it. If a fly comes and eats, it also becomes purifies. God moves but you cant see due to your imperfect vision. God doesnt need self defence as God is powerful.

* actually George Harrison was a devout Hare Krsna. He liked other philosophies but he was into the hare Krsnas at the end of his life.

* i Made a poster of krishna and every one thought he was a girl. sometimes i think the gods can be a bit too androgyneous...but what does it matter? beautiful song and artist.

* Govind Gopal Jai Jai Om Hari Om Ram Sita

* Why do some people need religion? I don't get it as of yet. I hope I never need religion. To me, religion only causes trouble and hatred. Even inside peoples' own religion. I think that in a world where there is no religion there would be a lot less hate simply because of the fact that people can't associate with a certain religion.

But George is great. Isn't it a pity is amazing, much better than any ancient mantra.

* As much as I respect the man, popular music of this nature really struggles to express the Divine.

* Some of those increased views must be me! I keep coming back and watching it. It leaves a feeling of peace in the heart.

* Wonderful tune...sounds like the views on this vid increase by about 2,000 per week! And deservedly so. :)

* I love Georges music and he sang this so lovely, but my heart believes that there is only one god, I don´t believe in these hindu and krishna thesis, even though I like the people, but I don´t like their kind of belief.
Like in "My sweet lord" he sang Halleluja and Hare Krishna together. It´s good for the peace between us religios people, but as a christ I can not adore other gods and sing "Hare Krishna", sorry, I hope, you can understand.
Peace and love

* mugui has asked me to post the chords for the song.

* Pure bliss!!!!

* Hare Krishna! What a great video and phenomenal song! I love you George!

* nice beautiful, mesmerizing song..thaks for the post..

* 'Krishna is the symbol of peace and love and now imagine how he should look'

I think John Lennon, Mahtma Ghandi or Lady Diana have better looks - so they should look like them ....... how exactly does Krishna LOOK like peace and love? .... and is that EXACTLY how he looked when he was on Earth? ... if so what PROOF do you have? .. SHOW ME THE PROOF then worship Krishna - otherwise you are wasting you time and efforts

* if you understand , when the mullah is screaming is that he is telling and reminding people to come and worship god.

* wow i love this song its so powerful this song its so mesmeizing its buitful thank you for the post

* Very nice. It is very relaxing to listen to. May the Creator give you all peace in abundance!

* wonderful song! not all modern tunes for Bhagavan's Nama are as nice as this. but real Nama sounds from the pure heart of saints. and it is inconceivable that some of them tell us not only logical truths about the Name and the Named, but also mention the torrents of the deepest delightful feeling of love.

* baby krishna at 1:10 is very cute!

* Krishna is the symbol of love and peace. Now imagine, how should he look...

* I'm Roman Catholic, but I absolutely love looking at photos of Krishna. Such gorgeous art work. And this song is wonderful. Thanks so much!

* This is mesmerizing, beautiful, addictive and cuts straight to the soul. I just wish I had the long version so my serenity wasn't disrupted pushing replay....
Peace.

* I find these images so beautiful, I just feel wonderful about being a human being looking at them. I love George Harrison too. I think I'm addicted to this video, I just want to watch it again and again. Someone please recommend me a good children's book in English about Krishna, so I can learn the basic story of his life. I've never thought of Hinduism as a real religion before, estaghfirullah, but now I'm seeing real beauty and meaning.

* yes, I agree .. I keep listening and looking at this too all the time .. it's so powerful and it's got so many emotions in it .. I'm realy touched by it ... would like to learn more .. Thank so much for uploading this! Thanks George for this wonderful song and prayer ... warm wishes!

* Wonderful!! George I love you deeply!

* Hare Krishna! This is a beautiful song and video. Lord Sri Krishna rules! Hinduism, the world's oldest and most detailed religion and it respects all life, all religions, and all people. This is totally a great thing and I love the Hare Krishna temples, farms, and restaurants. George you gave so many a path to perfection and Krishna is blessing you eternally. May God "Lord Krishna" always bless you for being such a great soul. Jai Krishna!

* All you need is love. Spread the word. Peace
