Lord Shiva is worshiped on a very large scale in India and Hinduism. There are more temples of Lord Shiva than any other Hindu deity. Lord Shiva the God of Destruction, the esoteric meaning the one who destroys the (Maya) illusion, the avidhya (ignorance). The three deity forming the trinity as Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the one who sustain) and Shiva the destroyer.

Lord Shiva who resides in the Holy and Sacred mountain Kailash is the Lord who remains in meditation and penance. The very picture or the idol of Lord Shiva brings about the feelings of penance and meditation.

The most important night of celebration of meditation, devotion and spiritual bliss is Mahashivaratri Festival.

Mostly prayed as a symbol Shivlinga. Prayers are offered to Shiva Linga in the Temple with water and milk. Sacred leaves bela is very dearer to Lord Shiva and devotees wanting to please the Lord does not forget to offer the bela leaves.

The chief most effective and simple Mantra recited to Lord Shiva is Om Namah Shivaya. Araatis of Lord Shiva is performed every morning, noon, evening and nights to evoke the blessings of Lord Shiva and His consort Shakti (power or energy that destroys the ignorance and illusion).

Shiva is also popularly known as Bholenath due to His guileless quality. Boons are often given pleased with the austerities and penance done in worship of Shiva. Many a times the devotees worldly or egoist demands are also satisfied.

Shiva is also known as Trinetra, the one with three eyes. The third eye located between the two eyes, just above. The third eyes was opened to burn the Kamdeva (God of Lust) to ashes. This is also symbolic to the subtle kundalini shakti or the serpent energy located in the human body, awakes and rises to the third eye the human is free from lust. The snake that always accompanies Lord Shiva is the symbol of Kundalini Shakti.

Various paths, attitudes, karma (deeds or action) are indicated in the Hindu Scriptures. There is also a path of devotion where the formless, eternal and limitless or infinite God takes form and the form is loved and worshiped as Master, Father, Mother, Friend, Beloved or a Child. Through intense love for divine through any of the relationship with the divine form the seeker or the devotee or भक्त bhakt merges and melts and becomes one with the God and experiences the truth, vibrant consciousness and bliss.

Many of the Gods forms are worshiped in Temples and homes. Various ways are performed liked worship or puja of God and Goddesses, chanting of Mantras and Hymns, singing the glories of Gods also known as devotional songs or Bhajans or Kirtans, remembering the God, reading the sacred scriptures and stories of Gods and Goddesses, meditation on form of God.

Lyrics of Anup Jalota Bhajan Itna to Karna swami or text or words in English and Hindi Script

Itna to Karna Swami, Jab Praan tan se nikle (2)

Govinda Naam leke, Tab pran tan se nikle,
Shri Gangaji the tat ho, Jamuna Ka vanshivat ho,
mera sawla nikat ho, jab pran tan se Nikle

Pitambari kasi ho, Chabi maan main yeh basi ho,
Hotho pe kuch hasi ho, jab pran tan se nikle

Jab kanth pran aye, koi rog na sataye (2)
Yam darash na dikhaye, Jab pran tan se nikle

us vakt jaldi ana, nahi Shyam Bhul Jana,(2)
Radhe ko saath lana, jab pran tan se nikle,

ek bhakt ki hai arji, khud garj ki hai garji
aage Tumhari marji jab pran tan se Nikle
Itna to karna Sai, Jab pran tan se Nikle

Lyrics of Anup Jalota Bhajan Itna to Karna Swami in Hindi Script
